A STONE mum who became depressed and piled on the pounds after difficulties that arose during her pregnancy found the strength to fight back in a slimming group.
Lynne Mitchell, 35, from Fillybrooks, first decided she needed to change her life after seeing a photo she taken on holiday in New Zealand.
Approaching her 30th birthday and wanting to feel fantastic at her party, Lynne joined a Slimming World group dropping four stone over the following year.
“I felt a million dollars,” said Lynne. “My friends and family didn’t recognise me.” Lynne said support and image therapy offered by the group played a key part in her success, which saw her go from 16st 2lbs to 12st 2lbs.
“Not long after, I met my husband,” she said. “We moved in together one month later.
“Then I fell pregnant with my gorgeous little boy Max.” But complications arose during the pregnancy and Lynne felt low and depressed after she had given birth, regaining the weight she had lost.
“It didn’t last long though, because I knew where to find the help,” she said.
Lynne rejoined the slimming group that had supported her through her first weight loss and when a friend approached her along with one of the local consultants to ask her about becoming a consultant herself, she leapt at the opportunity to help others.
“I have been helped and supported on my weight loss journey and want to do the same for others,” said Lynne.
Seeing an opportunity to help other people change their lives as she did, Lynne decided to set up her own franchise in partnership with Slimming World.
“For me this is the best of both worlds,” said Lynne. “I can still do my favourite things with my little boy, taking him to the park and feeding the ducks, also fitting in family time with my husband, eating out and going to the cinema.
“On top of that I can’t wait to get started and help the people of Stafford learn how they can still live their lives and lose weight.”
