Volunteers repair Otter holt in Wolesey Bridge

Written byKerry Ashdown

VOLUNTEERS have been helping to repair the home of one of the county's rarest mammals at the charity's Wolseley Bridge HQ.

The group from Staffordshire Wildlife Trust have repaired flood damage to an otter holt on the banks of the River Trent.

Recent flooding had caused the wooden walls to rot endangering the animals. The volunteers installed plastic pipes and reinforced walls made from recycled materials.

A remote camera in the centre's grounds caught at least two otters visiting the site last year, while footprints and scent markings continue to be found nearby.
