Women only as Stafford choir hits high notes

A STAFFORD choir will be all woman when it takes to the stage next week for its first concert as one of the largest allfemale ensembles in the country.

All Woman, which has groups in Stafford and Stoke-on-Trent, will perform at Stoke’s Victoria Hall on June 24.

The group boasts a membership of 250 women and the concert, called I Hear Singing, will see one of the largest collections of female voices perform at the venue.

The concert will also feature the highly acclaimed Daleian Singers, a longestablished and award-winning male voice choir based in Newcastle.

All Woman is led by musical director Liz Talbot and began in September last year in Stafford.

Since its launch organisers have been deluged with requests from women wanting to join.

Ms Talbot said: “It is hoped that there will be a third branch opening in September to accommodate the demand.”
