Olympians drop in to Stafford school to inpsire pupils to take up sport

OLYMPIANS have been inspiring Stafford pupils after dropping in to schools to share their top tips for sporting success.

Staffordshire athlete Meghan Beesley visited Blessed Mother Teresa School in Highfields last week.

The 400-metre hurdler from Tamworth, is aiming to compete in the 2016 Olympics. She has already won medals at Commonwealth Games and other competitions.

She spent the afternoon doing training sessions with pupils and encouraging more children to get involved in sport.

Olympic swimmer Jo Jackson also visited Barnfields Primary School to meet pupils and show off the Olympic bronze medal she won in Beijing in 2008.

The triple Olympian won the 400-emtre bronze in the water cube, following on from numerous medals at the Commonwealth Games, European Championships and World Championships.

Barnfields youngsters had the chance to see her medal up close and discover what it was like to compete at the Olympic Games.
