HAVING suffered their biggest defeat of the season against Eccleshall Sapphires last month, Stafford Town Panthers turned the tables in fine style this week.

Late November saw the Panthers crashed 6-0 to the Sapphires, but this week they pulled off a superb 3-2 win.

Panthers determined start surprised Eccleshall and it paid off as a great ball from Zakk Duffy to Tom Walker saw him fire home. Eccleshall upped their game, putting pressure on the Panthers defence which led them to an equaliser.Panthers played their football and battled hard and Duffy soon restored the lead. Further chances were created by the Panthers and after a Duffy shot was blocked, Walker followed up to make it 3-1 at the interval. Both teams played well in the second half and Walker was denied his hat-trick.

Eccleshall pressed in the final ten minutes and they cut the deficit with five minutes to go. In a tense final few moments, the Panthers held out for a memorable victory.

The parents' man of the match award went to Walker for his two great goals, while defender James Shaw picked up the manager's trophy for the Panthers.
