PENKRIDGE youngsters stepped back in time to learn all about the Second World War.

Pupils from Princefield First School spent a day last week finding out what it was like to be an evacuee.

The children heard about how towns and cities were bombed and many children were evacuated to safety in the countryside, having to leave their parents behind and take only their Teddy Bears for comfort.

Pupils came to school in 1940s clothing and brought in their own teddy bears. Some pupils also dressed in Army outfits.
