WALK AND TALK: Join local people on the South Staffs Healthwatch Walk with volunteer trained leaders on Tuesday at 10am. Meet at The Haling Dene Centre. Walk lasts about forty minutes. Suitable for all abilities of walkers, for more information please contact 01902 696682.

CRICKET CLUB: Members of the club, which is based at Pillaton, have organised a family camp and BBQ to take place on Sunday and a Race Night in the clubhouse on Friday May 30.

NEIGHBOURHOOD POLICE: PCSO Andy Poxon will be at the Co-operative Food Store in Market Street on Tuesday from 1pm to 3pm. He will be available to discuss local issues and can be contacted on 0300 123 2345 then dial 16762.

ST MICHAEL’S CHURCH: Bell Ringing practice takes place on Tuesday evenings at 7.30pm. Lighting up the church during May is in memory of Dennis Russell, Cyril Green, Keith Price and Gordon Thacker. Anyone who would like to light up the church in memory of a loved one or to mark a special celebration should contact Mary Maiden on 01785 713074, the cost is £10 per week.

CHILDREN’S ACTIVITIES: The half term sussed programme will run all next week at the Leisure Centre. Activities on offer include an army style boot camp, treasure hunt, football, princess fancy dress and various swimming activities. Lunch time supervision available. PARKINSON’S SUPPORT GROUP: The monthly meeting is on Wednesday at the Haling Dene Centre from 10.30am to 12.30pm. The group organises speakers from all walks of life, annual outings and social evenings for members and offers friendship and support. CHURCHES TOGETHER: The Penkridge churches together prayer meeting for this month is on Tuesday from 6.30pm – 7.15pm in St. Michael’s church.

ANIMAL ZONE: The centre at Rodbaston Campus is open next week for half term from 10am to 4pm for visitors. Free parking. Fun activities include animal encounters, guided tour, creature quiz, feeding sessions and kid’s crafts. Telephone 01785 710560 or visit the face book page for more information.

ST MICHAEL’S FIRST SCHOOL: Volunteers are being sought to take small groups of children into the garden to plant, weed and water plants during the summer. Contact the school office if interested. The recent ‘Walk in Her Shoes’ charity walk by pupils raised £282.24.

WOLGARSTON HIGH SCHOOL: A former Head Teacher of the school has died recently. Mr David Wilkinson took up the post in 1971 and led the school through significant periods of change including the amalgamation with Brewood Grammer School when the school became Wolgarston Comprehensive School. he retired in 1986 and continued to be an active member of the local community pursing his interest of languages , the theatre and walking.

AGE UK: A chair-based exercise class runs on a Thursday morning from 10am to 11am at The Methodist Church Hall, Clay Street. First class free of charge then £2 per session. For more details contact Susan Blower on 01785 788472.

CITIZEN’S ADVICE BUREAU: Representatives from the South Staffs branch are at the Haling Dene Centre every Thursday 9.30am to 12.30pm to offer free, confidential and impartial advice. Appointments not necessary.

AIR TRAINING CORPS: New members always welcome at 2415 Squadron who meet on a Monday and a Thursday evening from 7pm at Grange Road. Young people aged 13 years and over can work for gliding scholarships, take part in adventure training, sports, shooting and undertake the Duke of Edinburgh Awards.
