Pensioner dies in Penkridge crash

A PENSIONER has died after a crash on the A449 near Penkridge last night.










The 77-year-old woman was pronounced dead at the scene after the accident, which involved her Ford Fiesta and a Scania lorry.

The woman has yet to be identified and the lorry driver and passenger were uninjured.

Police, ambulance and fire crews attended Lower Drayton Lane after receiving a call shortly before 6pm.

Police are now appealing for witnesses as part of their investigation into the circumstances of the smash.

A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman said: “A woman was freed from her car by the fire service.

“Ambulance personnel performed CPR and administered advanced life-support. Sadly, despite these best efforts, nothing could be done to save her and she was confirmed dead at the scene.
