THE FAMILY of an elderly woman who died at Stafford Hospital told an inquest they could not fault her care.

Phyllis Allen suffered a fall at her Hednesford home on May 15 2012, Cannock Coroner’s Court heard last week.

The 90-year-old grandmother was admitted to Stafford Hospital where it was discovered she had fractured her left hip.

She appeared to be making a good recovery following an operation but a week after being discharged from Cannock Hospital, where she had been transferred, she began to suffer hip pain and an infection was found. Her condition deteriorated and she died on June 29 after suffering heart failure and sepsis.

South Staffordshire Deputy Coroner Margaret Jones recorded a verdict of accidental death.
