FAMILY and friends of a Stone youngster battling leukaemia have pulled in more than £2,000 from a fun day in her honour.

Five-year-old Phoebe Moon was diagnosed with the blood cancer last month, but the community has rallied round to help give her a winter wonderland in her Yarnfield garden for Christmas.

A fun day at Meaford Fields Nursery, organised by Phoebe's godmother Karen Jones and Meaford Day Nurseries manager Adele Cheadle, pictured, was attended by dozens of people on Saturday. Local businesses also flocked to support the cause, by donating cash and raffle prizes, and there were also stalls and a brass band.

Karen said: "Phoebe is such a brave little fighter. We just want to give her a special Christmas at home, as she can't really go out."

Funds left over will be donated to Birmingham Children's Hospital and Ronald McDonald House.
