THE SPIRIT of giving is alive and well in Stone this Christmas after the caring community clubbed together to make a local youngster's dream come true.

Five year-old Phoebe Moon was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukaemia last month.

Her family and friends launched a fund-raising campaign to give her a spectacular Christmas display in her Yarnfield garden and pull in pounds for Birmingham Children's Hospital, where she has been receiving treatment.

Local businesses including Meaford Fields Nursery rallied round and nursery owner Adele Cheadle's fun day, organised with Phoebe's godmother Karen Jones, has netted more than £4,000 - with more to come. Local businesses donated raffle prizes and Santa also attended.

Nursery staff and youngsters were thrilled with the money they raised, which has enabled Phoebe's family to create their winter wonderland and say thank you to Birmingham Children's Hospital.

Phoebe has now returned home from hospital in time to spend Christmas with her parents Mark and Karen, brother Seth, one, and sister Kiki, three.
