PLANS to put a 57-feet-high mobile phone mast in Cannock Road have been put on hold after communications giant Vodafone said they were changing their proposals.

The application was first heard in April when members of Stafford Borough Council’s planning committee deferred a decision so they could get more information about the power supply for the mast after planners were told it would go through a tree root protection area.

The mast is needed to replace those being removed from the former Staffordshire Police headquarters.

Planning chairman Councillor Stan Highfield said: “We have received a request by the applicant to defer the item because they are putting in a revised scheme for the cabinets and the location of the cabinets.”
