POLICE attended two separate incidents of vulnerable people on bridges over the M6 last night, engaging with them and ensuring they were taken to a place of safety and given the right support.
Officers from the Central Motorway Policing Group and Staffordshire Police were first called at around 8.25pm to reports of a vulnerable male on an M6 bridge over the A518 near Weston Downs.
The incident was resolved at around 8.50 after officers with CMPG (@CMPG) tweeting the man was ‘safe and well’ shortly afterwards.
Officers found themselves called out again at 11:30pm to a similar incident on the Whitmore Road bridge over the M6 in Hanchurch near Newcastle.
A spokesman for Staffordshire Police said: “We responded to reports of a man in distress.
“Officers engaged with the man and took him to a place of safety.”
CMPG (@CMPG) again tweeted following the incident to say: “Staffordshire Colleagues have ensured that a male on another Motorway bridge over the M6 is now safe and well and getting the right support.
