Police hunting man who alighted at Stafford Station after train cash theft from woman's handbag

TRANSPORT police are hunting a man in connection with a theft where a woman, travelling with her daughter on a train between Liverpool and Stafford, had £100 taken from her handbag.

PC Stuart Williamson, of British Transport Police said: “The victim and her daughter boarded the 1048hrs Liverpool Lime Street – London Euston service on Saturday, 23 November 2013.

“During the journey, a male passenger who was sitting in the seat behind the victim, is believed to have taken her handbag which was by her feet before moving to another part of the train and removing almost £100 in cash.

"The man is understood to have left the train at Stafford station."

Officers released a CCTV image of a man they believe will have information to assist their investigation and have circulated the image on local police intelligence systems but drawn a blank so far.
