POLICE have named a man who died in a collision on the M6 near Stafford last Friday.
Stephen Bethnall, 50, from the Grandholm area of Aberdeen died after his grey BMW Mini collided with a white BMW 1 series at 6.15am on the southbound carriageway of the M6 between junction 15 and 16.
The 28-year-old driver of the white BMW, from St Albans, Hertfordshire, who was uninjured in the crash, was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and has been bailed, pending further inquiries, to a date in November.
Following the crash, the southbound stretch of the road was closed while officers investigated the scene reopening at around 11am.
An investigation into the crash is ongoing and any witnesses are urged to call Sgt Tim Rogers at Staffordshire Police on 101 quoting Central Motorway Policing Group incident number 331 of September 20.
