POP-UP shops will aim to give retail entrepreneurs an affordable route onto the high street through a pioneering new project in Stafford.
The Guildhall Centre is set to house a number of pop-up shops, giving people an opportunity to co-fund and co-work in a prime retail space but keep their costs down.
The scheme is being run by Pop-Up Solutions and aims to nurture future independent talent and add diversity to the high street.
Pop-Up Solutions director Rick Dalton said: “Opening a shop in the Guildhall Shopping Centre is beyond the wildest dreams of most new retail businesses. Stafford is a busy town centre with a high footfall and it’s a great opportunity for any startup business - and shoppers will find something very different to buy.
“Promising new retail businesses stand to hugely benefit from trading in this environment, working with fellow entrepreneurs and learning solid retail techniques to take their business to the next level.
“The Guildhall has an average weekly footfall of 130,000 people and we’re on the lookout for up-and-coming retailers from across the country to take part over the coming weeks.”
The first shop opened on May 12 and the owner and management of the Guildhall, Glanmore Stafford Limited, are working with Pop-Up Solutions to help develop the town’s independent retail brands.
Steve Moran, Management Surveyor for DTZ, which acts as managing agents for the Guildhall, said: “The Guildhall is Stafford’s main shopping destination with an average annual footfall of 7m. We have a great track record of helping local businesses and the community and it’s something our customers find engaging and unique to the retail experience.”
