PRIME Minister David Cameron has today said they are looking seriously at how to keep a consultant-led maternity unit at Stafford Hospital.
He made the statement in response to a question in Parliament hours before a statement on the future of Stafford Hospital is due.
Stafford MP Jeremy Lefroy said: “The Prime Minister said they were looking very seriously at how to keep a consultant led maternity unit in Stafford. It wasn’t a guarantee but it was a statement by the Prime Minister and it is great he is putting himself on the line for that.
“Consultant led maternity means you have to have paeditriacians around as well. That is why I have been focusing on that.”
