NEWLY promoted Stafford CC firsts face a local derby on day one of the 2014 league cricket season.
The Riverway club, who lifted the North Staffs and South Cheshire League (NSSCL) division two title last summer, visit Barlaston on April 19.
Moddershall firsts also joined Stafford in division one and they start their fixtures at home to Newcastle and Hartshill. Another promoted club, third division champions Eccleshall get life in division two off the ground with a trip to Endon.
In the premier section, promoted Little Stoke visit Longton, while Lichfield Road based Stone are at Checkley.
On the second division front, Oulton commence the season playing hosts to Kidsgrove. Meir Heath travel to Weston (Cheshire).
Four local clubs will contest the proceedings in division three, including Moddershall A, last season’s Stone and District Premier champions.
They make their return to the NSSCL with a short trip to take on Stone SP. Church Eaton will open their fixtures at home to Oakamoor, while Wedgwood and Stanfields visit Bignall End.
On Thursday we will bring you the opening day fixtures for all the local club’s B teams, along with the first round draw for the Talbot Cup (ties to be played on Sunday, April 20).
