STAFFORD Rangers' three-match winning run came to an end on Boxing Day.
The Boro went down 1-0 at home to arch rivals Hednesford Town, the only goal of the game coming 13 minutes from time from Aaron Rey.
Rangers had hit nine goals in their previous two matches and moved ninth in the Evo Stik premier table but the Pitmen kept up their promotion challenge with this victory.
Whereas Rangers have slipped to 11th in the table Hednesford are second just a point behind leaders North Ferriby United with two matches in hand.
Next up for Rangers is another home fixture against fourth place Witton Albion on Saturday (3pm).
Witton's Boxing Day match at FC United was abandoned after just ten minutes due to a waterlogged pitch.
Boro's scheduled away fixture at struggling Stocksbridge Park Steels on the Saturday prior to Christmas was also postponed for the same reasons.
