RESIDENTS can go greener this month as a new kerbside recycling scheme launches in Penkridge and Wheaton Aston.
South Staffordshire Council will start recycling small unwanted electrical items left at the kerbside from October 14.
The items, including hairdryers, electric toothbrushes or irons, must be in a plastic bag next to grey bins on designated collection days.
The scheme has been developed as part of the new waste and recycling collection contract to save £380,000 each year.
Biffa will deliver the service, as well as the usual collections.
Councillor Mary Bond, cabinet member for environmental services, said: “These items contain valuable components that can be reused and recycled.”
