A STAFFORDSHIRE councillor has been forced to go cap in hand to cabinet colleagues after costs escalated at a Stafford Business Park.
County councillor Mark Winnington will ask for an extra £2.2million due to redesigns to the Redhill Employment Park approved since the original plans were announced in April 2011.
Councillor Winnington said the additional investment demonstrated a commitment to getting construction underway as quickly as possible to bring more jobs and growth to Staffordshire.
“It is necessary because there has been some redesign work since cabinet announced plans in April 2011,” he said.
The redesigns, approved by Stafford Borough Council in October, have meant additional ecological studies, drainage and earthworks at the site.
“Once the investment has been approved work can start as planned next month.”
A public information day on the development will be held on Friday at the Gatehouse Theatre, 12pm-3pm.
