A COMMEMORATION of 46 Eccleshall residents who died in the First World War is set to go beyond the village memorial.
The Eccleshall Great War Project has been launched a year ahead of the centenary of the First World War’s outbreak.
Like many towns and villages across the country Eccleshall has a memorial recording the names of its fallen, located in the grounds of Holy Trinity Church.
But volunteers aim to honour them by recording details of their personal, family and military lives for future generations.
Individuals and community groups are being invited to take part in the project, by carrying out research or supplying any details of the veterans they may have, including photographs, details of their lives, circumstances surrounding their death or information on their final resting place.
Anyone who wants to be involved can visit here for more information, including a list of the names.
They can also contact co-ordinators Dennis Joyner on 01785 851662 or John Baldry on 01785 850004.
