YOUNG ANGLERS... The Rising Brook students.

Comments (1)

Back in 1981, these proud anglers from Rising Brook High School qualified for the second year running in the national inter-schools knockout final being held on the River Avon at Evesham in September that year.

Top weight in their qualifying round was that of Mark Lee with a commendable 1-2-0. Shown here are (from left): Back, Andrew Harvey, David Johnson, Mark Lee, Philip Farnsworth and David Elsmore; front, Gary Stone, Philip Bowling and Andrew Hulme.

Have just noticed this picture on your website. Yes, I still have an interest in fishing although I haven't had much time to indulge myself recently. Andrew Harvey has his own fishing shop in North Walls. Don't know about the others. We used to qualify for the national fishing competition every year, with our best being 9th out of 40 schools one year! Mr Jones, an excellent English teacher, used to organise fishing trips for us but he is no longer with us. Andy Hulme.
