A BUSY road near Stafford known as an accident blackspot has been partially blocked this morning.

Reports of an accident on the A34 Cannock Road, near the Sawpit Lane junction at Brocton, came in shortly after 8am. But the road was cleared by 9.30am and police and paramedics did not attend the scene.

On the A50 at Meir, near the A520 Sandon Road turn-off, drivers travelling east faced delays because of a broken down lorry this morning. And heavy traffic caused congestion for motorists heading south on the A500 at Hanford towards the M6 junction 15.

Drivers travelling north to Stoke on Trent tonight have been warned by police to allow extra time for their journey as heavy traffic is expected on the A500 and A50 ahead of Stoke City Football Club’s home match against Manchester United.
