A £600,000 project to improve the roads around Rugeley is due to finish next week.

Staffordshire County Council has been giving the roads an overhaul between the town centre and the station, including reducing Horse Fair to single lane carriageway.

Work has also included creating a new cycle path between Globe Island and Wharf Road, new crossings to improve safety and new parking bays.

And trees have been planted, new street furniture installed and landscaping has also been done.

Western Power Distribution has also been doing an electrical power upgrade at the same time to minimise disruption.

And Cannock Chase District Council has been doing work funded by Tesco to resurface the car parks off Brookside, improving and widening pavements and crossing areas along Brookside and Forge Road.
In 2015, Horse Fair will be resurfaced over a few days and work on Wharf Road will complete the project and complete the link between the town centre and the railway station.
