Staffordshire firefighters had to cope with some very smelly smoke when they were called out to a horse manure and straw fire in Rugeley at lunchtime.

A 15 sqauare metre heap of manure and straw, weighing around eight tones was ablaze in a field next to The Horns Inn, Slitting Mill Road, Rugeley.

One crew from Rugeley used a hose reel jet and a mains jet to put out the fire, which is believed to have started accidentally.

Firefighters were at the scene for around an hour.
