SWEETS and cakes are the best items at Rugeley's indoor market, say shoppers.
Of those who completed a Cannock Chase Council survey, 67% said they currently use the market, with just under half of those people (49%) saying they shop there once a week.
The most popular items bought at the market are sweets and cakes (42%), followed by meat (34%), pet supplies (25%), technology products (12%) and furniture (11%). Other items and services mentioned included the market café, bread, fruit, tools, DVDs, hairdressing, clothing and flowers.
People were asked how they would rate the market on a number of themes, including opening hours, the range of stalls, parking, and the interior and exterior of the market. On the range of stalls, over half of respondents (57%) said it was very good, good or OK; 79% said opening times are very good, good or OK.
The council will be launching a Support Your Local Market campaign later this month to spread the word about Rugeley indoor market in the town, and to encourage local people to take on a stall. The council will also be working with young people from Rugeley to make the exterior of the market more attractive.
