RUGELEY

ST AUGUSTINE’S CHURCH: The annual stable trail, a look back in time to Bethlehem, is on Saturday December 14. Guided tours take place from 10am to noon and from 2pm to 4pm and start in the church hall. All ages welcome, refreshments, activities and crafts will be available during the tour. ST PAUL’S METHODIST CHURCH: An exhibition of Nativity Scenes will be on show in the social room on Saturday December 14 from 10am to 4pm. Entry is free but donations to the Action for Children charity will be welcome.

ROTARY CLUB: The Santa Sleigh Tours continue tonight in Old Eaton Road, tomorrow Station Road and Chadsfield, Monday the Priory Avenue area and Upper Longdon, Tuesday Springfields area and Wednesday the second visit to Etchinghill.

DISCO: A Christmas family disco is being held at The Brereton and Ravenhill Parish Hall on Saturday 6.30pm to 10.30pm. Entertainment by DB Disco, bar and prize draw. Free admission.

ROSE THEATRE: Members are currently performing ‘Beauty and the Beast’ until December 15. Contact the box office on 01889 584036 for times and ticket prices.

ETCHINGHILL

WI: The Rose Deag Rose Bowl is a competition also currently taking place for a watercolour painting for novices not previously shown at any WI competition. The title to depict ‘Reflections’. Entry fee id £3.50 and the closing date is Thursday January 30. All entries will be displayed at the Spring Council Meeting. Members and their family and friends have also been invited to attend a carol service in Lichfield Cathedral on Monday December 16 at 1.30pm. Service Sheets can be ordered in advance costing £1.50.

WHIST: A small friendly group meet in the village hall on Thursdays at 7pm. New members welcome, contact Margaret or Mick on 01889 574167.

ABBOTS BROMLEY

ST NICHOLAS CHURCH: The recent quiz night held at the Coach and Horses raised £660 for church funds despite a power cut affecting the whole village. To date in 2013 £7837.38 has been raised, an update and final total will be in the January 2014 Parish Magazine.
