RUGELEY

MACMILLAN CANCER: Rugeley Progressive Working Men’s Club, Mansefield House, Market Street are hosting a quiz night on Wednesday to raise funds for the charity. The evening starts at 7.30pm and the cost is £2.50 per person with teams made up of four people.

INLAND WATERWAYS: The Inland Waterways Association, Lichfield Branch, are asking volunteers for help on Saturday with painting and re-badging the Canal and River Trust signs along the towpath, plus general clearance, maintenance and litter picking. The meeting place is Leathermill Lane by the canal noticeboards on the towpath and the time is 9.30am to 1pm. All equipment provided, but strong footwear is advisable. LANDOR SOCIETY: Members are attending a lecture at The Museum of Cannock Chase, Valley Road, Hednesford, by Professor Stephen Badsey of the University of Wolverhampton next Thursday at 3pm. The lecture is entitled ‘Kitchener Needs You! – British Propaganda and Recruiting at the Start of the First World War’. Places need to be booked with the museum on 01543 877666 and cost £2 per person.

ABBOTS BROMLEY

ST NICHOLAS CHURCH: The recent Ceilidh Evening was attended by 107 people and the total raised including raffles and auctions was £1255 for church funds.
