STORIFY: Julie Bailey's New Year Honour sparks strong debate
Comments (3)

JULIE Bailey's inclusion on the New Year's Honours list has proved controversial in Stafford.

The Cure the NHS group founder, who launched her campaign to highlight failings at Stafford Hospital following the death of her mother Bella there in 2007, was awarded the CBE for services to the care of older people.

But while many people have offered their congratulations via social networking sites Facebook and Twitter others have hit out at the award decision. Here are just some of the comments from the Newsletter Facebook page.

Curethenhs was set up as a limited company recently wound up before the accounts had to be made public, but continues in name. Bob 57 if you do not like to hear the truth then don't read the SSH website, the comments about the fabrications such as drinking from vases, there were none on the wards they had been removed 10 plus years before the alledged incidents, the desecration of the grave, no evidence again etc. are likely to ensure comments form people who know the truth. The disgrace is that the media and even cameron have continued to repeat these lies as if the are the truth.

Cure the NHS was created to expose the 'shortcomings' etc at Stafford hospital... Stafford Hospital last year was rated amongst the highest, significantly better than UHNS... So my question is, why does cure the nhs still exist? "Cure the NHS is made up with a small group of relatives, patients and community members who succesfully campaigned for a public inquiry into the failings at Mid Staffs hospital." - curethenhs.co.uk section title "WHO WE ARE". Have they not succeeded in their task of exposing the issues at Stafford and getting them sorted? As for the comments made by the SSH group, are people not allowed to have and express opinions any-more? Did we do away with nice things such as freedom of speech? Did we all become mindless slaves?

Having read the comments here and on SSH Facebook page the great work that SSH has done to date has been destroyed by the comments and attacks. SSH has no credibility anymore thanks to this - you are a disgrace
