IN A closely contested Stafford and District Netball League top flight fixture, Saints Juniors edged home 27-26 victors over Spittal Brook.There was a strong start from Saints who took an early lead, with on-form scoring from both their shooters.
Brook made a comeback in the second quarter with great attack and defence to bring the score back to 16-12 in Saints' favour at half time.
Both teams fought all the way, with the score neck-and-neck for the whole of the second half but Saints just edged in winners 27-26. Tanya Grigg excelled for Saints, Kelly Bryant for Brook.
The other match of the evening found Freedom struggling against an in-form Ladybirds side, with their GS Kelly McCulloch displaying some sharp shooting.
Although Freedom gave it everything, Ladybirds' consistent shooting secured a convincing 43-13 triumph. Emily Coleman was Ladybirds player of the match, Amy Bradburn for Freedom.
DARTS - On the Gnosall Darts League scene, unbeaten Lamb lead the way in division one. They have a two point advantage over nearest rivals Wheaton Aston CC.
In the latest round of matches, the Lamb dropped their first points of the season when held to a 4-4 draw by fourth place Horns.
Best for the Horns was W Baker with a maximum 180, while B Braithwaite (140) responded.
But the Lamb hit back to inflict a first defeat on Wheaton Aston in last week's top of the table clash. A maximum man for Lamb was D Pallett. Cock B and A teams occupy the leading places in division two. Recent form saw Cock B defeat MOB 5-3, while Cock A won by the same score against MOB A.
