LEADERS Stafford Ladies found themselves on the receiving end in their latest Stafford Netball League fixture.

They took on an in-form Junior Saints side with only five players and eventually paid the penalty.

Player of the match, Lucie Munday (GA) excelled for the Saints, although the addition of a sixth Ladies player brought the scores closer.

The final half saw some fantastic play with good attacking by Sue Lawton (C) of the Ladies, but Saints held out to claim a 29-25 win.

Staying with the top flight and Touchstone Lighting ran out 40-23 winners over Sapphires. Top match awards went to Emma Bickerton (Sapphires) and Sue Lawton (C) of Touchstone.

Kingfisher Gems were in winning form, running out

43-27 victors over Bluebelles A. The Gems capitalised on the Belles mistakes to take the spoils.

In division two, Emeralds sneaked home 22-21 against Stafford Rubies, in what was often a physical encounter.

Laura James excelled for Spittal Brook as they ran out worthy 42-21 winners against Saints, who were only able to field six players. Best for the Saints was Jenny Cantrill.

In the final match of the week, All Stars pulled off a comfortable 31-8 success against a six-strong Deevas team.

Although the Deevas led 5-4 at the end of the first quarter, All Stars raised their game and took a 13-5 advantage by the close of the second quarter, going on to take the spoils, with Rebecca Whitehouse the star.
