PARENTS who want to see whether the weather has closed their child’s school only need take a few clicks of a mouse to find out.
Staffordshire schools can put closure info directly onto the county council’s website giving parents up-to-date news about their children’s schools.
www.staffordshire.gov.uk/schoolclosures will be updated as-it-happens with a mobile version for use on smart phones and tablets.
County Councillor Ian Parry, cabinet member for education, finance and transformation said the innovation was designed to ensure parents had access to up-to-date information on closures quickly.
“We also realise that parents may be on the move, or may not have access to a PC, which is why the site can be viewed on a smart phone or tablet device,” he said. “Schools will also benefit tremendously from this, as it means headteachers no longer have to physically get to school in order to update and inform parents that the school is closed.
“They can ensure their staff and the wider school community have the latest information without having to leave their home in times of bad weather.”
