PHOENIX Blues Ladies HC took an early lead against Dudley firsts on Saturday, but still missed out.

Claire Walker gave the Blues a fifth minute advantage, but then missed three excellent chances to wrap up the match.

Dudley equalised before the break, then started the second half as they had finished the first adding two quick goals from short corners to make it 3-1. One of the goals was deflected by a Blues defender and completely wrong footed the keeper.

The Blues never gave up the battle and took control again, producing one clear opportunity when Walker netted her second. The Blues player of the match award went to Mia Broomhall.
