HUSBAND and wife, Bob and Carol Dredge led the way as members of Walton Chasers contested the annual Midland Orienteering Championships in Sherwood Forest.

Alongside Bob, the Chasers pulled off an impressive cleansweep in the same class, with Jon Howell taking second spot and John Robinson third.
Other podium places included Cath Williams who was third on the 8.3k W40L course and Claire Bushnell, also third, on the 7.6k W50L course.
While these were a fantastic set of results against very tough opposition, several Chasers finished just outside the top three, in an event that attracted over 800 competitors. The day was
chilly and dull, but Sherwood forest is mostly flat with some undulation and grassy.
Just missing out was Holly Stodgell, fourth on the 3.3k W10A course, Judith Hughes 6th on the 7.6k W45L, Alison Yeates 2nd on 5.5k W45S (there are no podium places on short courses), Christine Collins 2nd 5.5k W50S and Sue Lynch 1st 4.1k W55S.
On the men’s courses, Matt Hartland was sixth on the 8.4k M16A course, with Gareth Little 4th on the long 17.7k M50L circuit.
Richardo Fernandes was 4th on the 8.3k M40S, while Andy Yeates was similarly placed on the 10.6k M50L course, with Andy Hughes 7th.
On the 7.6k M50S course, Ian Turner was first, with Richard Rogers 5th. Ray Collins was tenth over the 9.2k M55L, with Dave Thomas 14th. Garry Langston was 8th on the 6.5k M70L.
