Under the watchful eye of Steve Vaughan and Bob Skelton, the young Boro outfit have been preparing to take on arch rivals Hednesford Town in the semi-finals of the Staffs FA Midweek Youth Floodlit Cup.

Boro are managed by ex-Rangers first team coach Chris Curtis and the tie takes place on Thursday, March 14, at Marston Road (7.30pm).

The Pitmen will no doubt be confident having recently beaten Birmingham City Youth, but they will come up against a determined Rangers team who are unbeaten so far this season.

On the path to the last four, this Rangers under-17 side has defeated the likes of Walsall Wood and Heath Hayes and are expecting good support as they take on a Hednesford side a year older.

This Sunday, Rangers face the prospect of another titanic battle when they visit local rivals Brocton in the County Youth Challenge Cup (2pm), at Silkmore Lane.

Other ties are: Midweek Youth Cup, Chasetown v Newcastle Town; Challenge Cup, Eccleshall u17s v Newcastle Town u17s.
