COUNTY youth darts is very much alive in Staffordshire.

Having seen out 2012 with a 10-5 success over neighbouring Shropshire, the young players extended their unbeaten tag with a 9-6 victory over Montgomery and Radnor to kick off the new year.

In the clash against Salop, their fourth fixture of the campaign, Staffs were victorious in all three sections of the match, under- 18s, ladies and under-21s.

Particularly impressive was Matt Dicken who celebrated victory over his former team - mate and PDC Youth event finalist Ash Khayat.

Rugeley’s Dan Williams won the man of the match award for the under-18s with a 21.78 average, while brother and sister, Katie and Jake Jones picked up the respective lady of the match and under-21 awards.

In their first match of 2013, Staffs again won in the u18s,

ladies’ and under-21 sections, with highest averages from Williams (22.27), Jo Ashby (15.66) and Dicken (23.48) respectively.

Next match for Staffs Youth is against Cheshire, at Fegg Hayes social club on January 25, with all spectators welcome.
