THERE was no new year change in fortune for Stafford Table Tennis league division one basement side Burton Manor Defenders.
Second from bottom St Leonards B fared no better also going down 9-1 to Lea Hall B and 7-3 to Stone B and Burton Manor Marauders. Jake Westwood was unbeaten in both for Lea Hall.
The Marauders went on to defeat Stone B 6-4 before losing 7-3 to Burton Manor Vikings.
Adrian Hough was undefeated in all three, while Gareth Dunn, Colin Burgess and Alison Phillips all replied with a brace each for the Vikings.
Lea Hall A also took on Stone B and ran out 7-3 winners. Darren Ball collected a treble and James Rudge and Cliff Bell doubles. Best for Stone was Steve Foster with five out of six.
Burntwood Community consolidated top spot in division two with a draw against St Leonards A and a 7- 3 victory against St Leonards C and now lead the table by three points.
Saints A went on to whitewash Weston Quasars and to beat County Officers A 7-3 to move into a share of second place with their E side with a game in hand on the leaders against the E side’s two. Bob Elliott and Jim Kelly picked up seven out of nine and Barry Hughes six.
Saints C shared the points with Officers A who remain in the bottom two. Nigel Cotton (Officers) posted five out of six and Mac MacFarlane (Saints) four.
St Leonards D take over the lead from St Leonards Bullets in division three after a 9-1 success against County Officers C.
The lead is only one point and the Bullets have two games in hand. Alan Morris gained the consolation against Bill Barber.
Pointless County Officers C lost heavily 9-1, 10-0 (twice) to Weston Voyagers, Weston Pioneers and County Officers B. Also suffering a 10-0 reverse were Weston Quasars against Weston Apollo.
The Voyagers went on to defeat Weston Eclipse 6-4. Steve Gadsby scored five out of six and Adam Haycox a pair for the Eclipse. The Pioneers however went down 7-3 to County Officers D.
