Disappointing end to Rangers' home programme

STAFFORD Rangers' first season under boss Greg Clowes is ending in disappointment.

In the space of four days they have suffered two defeats at the hands of Buxton and have now gone six matches without a win.

After a fairly even first period, Rangers conceded two goals in 13 second half minutes in the return at Marston Road, just days after losinjg 3-1 at Buxton.

There were early signs that Rangers would be in for another difficult afternoon when keeper Danny Read was twice forced to tip over Buxton efforts in the opening 11 minutes.

Set piece free kicks from Sean Kinsella were the main response from Rangers, who eventually fell behind on 69 minutes.

After Read had turned aside a near post drive from Bradley Barraclough, the resultant corner from Grant Black was headed home by Marc Roberts.

A 25-yard free kick from home defender Ryan Brown was just inches over, before Buxton secured the points with a second goal on 80 minutes.

Buxton substitute Sanchez Payne picked out Neil Stevens, who drilled the ball into the far corner of the net. Only an upright denied Mark Reed a third Buxton goal on 83 minutes.
