Eagles snatch all three points with dramatic stoppage time winner

ECCLESHALL left it late to snatch all three points in their North West Counties League clash with Formby.

The win takes Eccleshall into sixth place in division one after they were beaten narrowly by promoted Wigan Robin Park in mid-week.

A heavy downpour led to a scrappy opening 20 minutes and turned Eccle- shall's passing game on its head.

It meant that Formby could take advan- tage and it took all of Eccleshall goal- keeper Stuart Plant's ability to keep the ball out of the net.

Plant's save coming after Shaun Chart and Matt Jones combined but were denied by a post for the visitors.

It remained goalless as the game moved into the second half, but gradually, Eccle- shall began to put real pressure on the Formby goal.

Tom Simon in the Formby goal contin- ued to keep the game tight with save after save to thwart the home side.

Though, the hosts finally found a way past the impressive Simon in added time. Dan Colclough sent a searching ball into the box which was met by Mark Hall who sent the ball into the roof of the Formby net.

So Eccleshall took the points in a hard fought encounter that was played at a frantic pace and credit should go to both sides for their part in the spectacle.

Eccleshall round off their league pro- gramme at AFC Darwen on Saturday (3pm).
