KELLY McCulloch was the star of the show as Ladybirds emerged 30-20 winners over Sapphires in the Stafford and District Netball League top flight.
The goal shooter was in excellent form, but Sapphires responded well with long range efforts from their player of the match Emily Jackson (GS).
Ladybirds always held the lead but Sapphires staged a late comeback and won the final quarter by one point but it was just too little too late and Ladybirds took the match.
Touchstone started well in their fixture against Kingfisher Gems and raced into an early lead.
The Gems missed chances, which enabled Touchstone to convert the turnovers. Gems fought well to stay in the game but missed passes. and good defending by Touchstone, made things difficult.
Gems made a comeback in the final half with great shooting by Becky Adams (GS) and good defending by player of the match Adele Sarginson (GD), but Touchstone were led home to a 35-24 win by Jan Berrington (GA) and player of the match Heather Stone (GS). Diamonds were awarded the points in their cancelled fixture against Freedom.
