TALENTED hockey player Hannah Stevens (above) is celebrating after being picked for the Midlands U16 team to play in a national tournament.
Stevens, 15, of Porlock Avenue, Stafford, who plays in goal, has been called up for the Mercia Lynx team which will compete against three other regions in England Hockey’s Futures Cup at Cannock next month.
She has earned selection after playing for Staffordshire and then attending a series of summer training sessions and matches with a junior regional performance centre.
The Chase Academy student, who plays for Stafford LHC, is setting her sights even higher.
Selectors will choose players from the Futures Cup to go forward for an England trial later in the year - and she is hoping to impress.
“I’m really excited to be selected for the Futures Cup and really hope to be picked for England and even GB in the future,” she said.
