STAFFORD Ladies 1st XV suffered a heartbreaking 15-12 home defeat at the hands of second place Bridgnorth on Sunday.

The Castlefields side had moved into the second half leading 12-5 before the Shropshire visitors pulled a try back.
Bridgnorth continued to press and with just six minutes remaining they ran in a second try.
In the closing stages, Stafford Ladies threw themselves into attack with brute force and an excruciating final few minutes of rugby ensued.
Stafford attacked non-stop and went close on several occasions to crossing the line. When it looked as though they had, the referee declared the ball had not touched down and the final whistle went.
The Stafford team trooped off disappointed, but with their heads held high, knowing that they had given one of the leading sides in their section an almighty scare.
