ATHLETES from Cannock and Stafford AC were again in the medals last weekend when they contested the Staffordshire Cross Country Championships at Aldersley Stadium in Wolverhampton.

The under-20 men’s race was deemed the closest battle with City of Stoke’s team equally as strong as C and S.
With three to score, twins Chris and James Perrin showed great determination to finish first and third respectively. With James Lake finishing ninth, victory was complete.
The under-13 girls were also in dominant form as they also supplied the champions in both the individual and team performances with Molly Shermer in an early battle with team mates Iris Davies and Rachael Jones.
As the race progressed, Shermer edged away to finish first with Davies third and Jones seventh, with good support from Olivia Osborne (19th).
The under-20 ladies were the third team champions as Catherine Hulme collected an excellent bronze medal. With Becky Bray crossing the line in fourth and Sarah Hulme in fifth their team victory was well deserved.
The under-15 boys produced another bronze individual and bronze team award with Ryan Ashforth finishing third, Ashley Daniel 18th and Callum Houseman 21st.
The under-17 men took a splendid silver team award thanks to Aaron Houseman in ninth, James Russell 13th, James McCann 14th and Jordan Barrett 18th. The under-15 girls finished in 5th place with Chloe Wilde 14th, Philippa Nock 16th and Katie Lord 25th. Tom Walton (u13) was fourth in his age group.
