New names made the Stafford half marathon roll of honour in 2012

TWO new names were added to the winner’s list of the Stafford half marathon in 2012.

Overall race winner was Mark Dalkins, right,who gave Telford AC their first ever triumph in his debut Stafford race.

Dalkins, who also dedicated his success on the day to Clare Skelton, covered the distance in 70.58 and said:”It was one race I’ve wanted to do and I must say it was fantastic organisation.

“It wasn’t an easy course but it’s enjoyable.”

There was also a first for Trentham Running Club as their member Mandy Vernon, left, claimed her first Stafford win, crossing the finish line in Market Square in 84.31.

Dalkins won from Chris Hollinshead (Stafford Harriers) 1:14.31 and third place Oliver Harradence (Royal Sutton Coldfield) in 1:14.56.

s The 2013 race is the 28th running of the event. There was no Stafford half marathon in 1989 and the scheduled 2001 event was called off due to the foot and mouth disease outbreak.
