CANNOCK and Stafford AC’s girls are flying high in the West Midlands Young Athletes Cross Country League.
The U13s took top spot in the recent outing at Hatton Park, Warwick, (see back page) and the u11 girls also achieved a top three placing with outstanding performances from Isabelle Kelly (13th), Ariana Jones (17), Olivia Osborne (22nd), Alice Richards (25th) with fifth scorer Freya Harper 31st.
In the under 15 boys section Ryan Ashforth - in his first year in this age group - finished fourth putting him in with a good chance of further honours this year. Finishing close behind was Jagon Edge in 11th and Callum Houseman finishing in 68th.
The under 17 men are in fourth place and with three to count it was James McCann in eighth Aaron Houseman 19th
and Jordan Barrett 35th. In the under 11 boys newcomer Harry Hardy-
Smith ran an excellent race to finish fifth.
The under 15 girls had three runners with Phillippa Nock 27th Kirsty Beswick 34th and Olivia Robbins 48th.
The under 13 boys race produced another fine performance as Tom Walton crossed the line in fifth place followed by Harry Jones in 23rd Sam Bagley in 34th and Morgan Hammon in 61st.
The senior men of Cannock and Stafford AC produced a brilliant performance to take bronze medal position in the Midland Cross Country Relay Championships at walsall Arboretum last weekend finishing behind favourites Tipton Harriers and Notts AC.
