NINE men Brocton were on the receiving end of a 3-2 defeat away to high riding Atherstone Town this week.

A deep corner from Atherstone at the start of the second half gave the home side a two-goal cushion when Rob Tom- linson put through his own net after a Atherstone corner was headed back into the danger zone by Gregg Webb.
Shortly after, Jordan Bloor responded for Brocton and picked out Dave Berks, whose fierce volley found the target.
But the lifeline did not last long as Webb got in behind the Brocton defence to make it 3-1. Brocton kept plugging away but virtually the entire team were incensed by one offside decision that denied them a second goal.
So much so that the Badgers had two players, Tomlinson and Tom Stevenson red-carded.
Despite being two players down, Broc- ton continued to the chase the game and substitute Joe Pickering set up Jamie Evans for Badgers’ second. In the closing stages, Brocton chased an equaliser but in the end they had to return home pointless.
This Saturday, Brocton entertain lowly Blackwood, with the reserves at Conti- nental Star (both 3pm).
