STAFFORD Cricket Club will be 150 not out this year as it marks the landmark anniversary.
Formed in 1864 Stafford Cricket and Hockey Club is celebrating with a five-day cricket week at its Riverway home.
The event starts on Monday when the North Staffs & South Cheshire Cricket League’s Barney McArdle Trophy will be contested in 20/20 format starting at 10.30am.
On Tuesday a Stafford XI is playing a Stone and District League XI and on Wednesday there is a Junior Tournament all day with nine local teams competing.
On Thursday MP Jeremy Lefroy is bringing a Parliament Invitation XI to play Stafford CC in what should be a unique cricketing occasion.
On Friday the Stafford CC President’s XI will play a North Staffs & South Cheshire League team in an all-day game.
The finale to these events is a celebration dinner in a marquee at Riverway on the Friday evening.
The club is keen for many local people to attend these cricket events and entry to the ground is free of charge at all the matches.
Throughout the week the club is also holding a cider festival in the Brian Westhead Pavilion and all are welcome.
