THOUSANDS of music lovers are expected to descend on Stafford Castle for a one-day festival.

The annual Live @ the Castle event features a mixture of solo artists, duos and bands and attracts people and families from inside and outside the borough.

Set against a backdrop of the 900-year-old castle some 20 acts will be performing on two purpose built stages.

The music kicks off at 12.30pm on Sunday July 13 on the main stage and includes accomplished bands such as HouseJammerz who proved a massive hit when they appeared at the Big Burh Day in Stafford town centre last year.

On the bill are some more of Stafford's favourite acts including The Rivals, The Taskers, Pelo, HouseJammerz and Soul Fire Saints.

Music in the acoustic tent gets underway at 1.30pm and features Rob Senior and Samantha Archer; Helena Raby, Lizzie Gask, Ryan Cleary and Field Sparrow.

In addition, Stafford Round Table's Catch Twenty Two DJs Dave Gerrard, Rob Bairstow and Ben Shenton will be playing laid-back grooves throughout the day.

Admission is £3 for anyone over 12-years-old and free for under 12s. There is a £5 charge for parking, and refreshments will be available throughout the day.

The site will be open from noon, with the last of the acts finishing at around 10pm.

More information and a full list of performers can be found at the festival website www.staffordfestival.co.uk.
