STAFFORD College students are helping to look after some of the town’s wildlife sites.
Students from the college’s Countryside Management course recently joined staff from Staffordshire Wildlife Trust for work at Kingsmead Marsh local nature reserve.
The group cut the reed bed and cleaned out ditches to ensure a rich and diverse
wetland habitat. It was part of the nature conservation charity’s Wild about Stafford project which is supported by the Caterpillar Foundation.
The students have spent a day managing the wetlands site at Perkins Engines Company Limited on Tixall Road and in the new year will be carrying out a survey on Astonfields Balancing Lakes.
